What is the One Team, One Dream Yahoo! Group?

The One Team, One Dream (1Team1Dream, 1T1D) Yahoo! Group is an e-mailing list and group discussion web site combination that was set up by Joel Munn (Member of the Internet Advisory Board) for fellow distributors (and ONLY distributors) to use to share and discuss information. On the one hand it serves as an e-mailing list where messages are sent from/to all members via e-mail. On the other hand, it has a web site where messages can be viewed/posted as well as various other funtions not available via simple e-mail, for example: polls, sharing files and photos, archived messages, chat, web site bookmarks, etc. I welcome you to join and log into the web site and participate in it's various functions. But most importantly, share, share, share and smile!

1. Violation of the Rules    Back to the Top

What happens if you violate the rules?

No Mail/Web Only: If you continually violate (minor offenses) you could find yourself placed in this mode. You will have to use the web site to read/reply/post messages. You may change your delivery option back to Individual E-mails, but if you continue to violate the rules, you may be put in Moderated mode or Banned.

*NOTE: Yahoo disables users whose e-mail addresses "bounce" (undeliverable or over storage quota) too much. The moderators may place you in No Mail/Web Only mode if this happens to you. If you stop receiving messages from the group, log into the web site and check your delivery mode status; Dont' send a message to the group asking of anyone else is having problems (if they are, they won't get your message anyway!). For those using web-based e-mail like Yahoo and Hotmail, I'd suggest you use the web site for reading the messages.

Moderated: Used for repeat offenders. Your messages will be held in a queue awaiting review by a moderator. The moderator will either approve or disapprove your message. If approved, it will be sent on to the group.

Banned: Serious offenders (malicious e-mails, recruiting/advertising for other companies, etc.) It's very very seldom that anyone would get banned, but it has happened... once.

2. What Are The Rules And Guidelines For This List?    Back to the Top

Here is a quick summary of the rules and guidelines that we ask all of the members of this mailing list to follow. Most of them are discussed in more detail in other sections.

If you violate any of these rules, you may receive a friendly note reminding you of the rules or you'll most likely find yourself not able to send or receive messages to/from the group and will have to work with the moderator to get reinstated. Violation of Market America policies and procedures as well as any egregious or repeated violation of any of the rules below would be grounds for suspension or removal from the list.

1. Don't "flame" or make personal attacks.
2. Don't discuss other business plans.
3. Don't try to sell anything (some exceptions below).
4. Don't try to recruit anybody into anything.
5. If you send a message to 1Team1Dream, don't send a cc: or bcc: to *anybody*.
6. Don't cc or bcc 1Team1Dream, either.
7. Don't forward messages to the list. Cut and paste what you want to share.
8. When you respond to a message, quote some of it so everyone knows what you are responding to.
9. Don't quote any more than you have to. Always delete the old taglines.
10. Don't enclose the original post as an attachment.
11. If you do send an attachment, describe it. (We don't want to share viruses.) *Note: The ability to send attachments has been disabled.
12. Send all messages as "plain text only" so everyone can read it.
13. If you send anything in upper case letters you are shouting. Be sure that you want to.
14. If you want to advertise, get permission from the owner *first*.
15. Don't send "Me, too," "I agree," or "Amen" messages to the list.
16. Don't send any virus warnings.
17. Don't send anything that remotely resembles a chain letter.
18. Respect the privacy of 1Team1Dream members. This is not a public list.

3. How Do I Join the 1Team1Dream Yahoo Group?    Back to the Top

Restricted Membership
Due to human intervention, don't expect an immediate approval.

1. Go to http://groups.yahoo.com/group/1Team1Dream and click on "Join this group".

2. You'll have to create a Yahoo ID, if you don't already have one. You'll use this ID to log into the web site.

While the requirement has been dropped that requires you to have a Yahoo Profile, for purposes of marketing your Custom Web Site and Webcenter business, it is highly recommended that you create a Yahoo profile and include as your Home Page the link to your Custom Web Site or Webcenter. Use the Cool Links to add any other Market America web sites that you have.

3. Wait for approval/disapproval notification via e-mail.

You will never be asked for your Distributor Rep Number or ID.

A note about your profile, if you choose to create one:

When you have created/updated your Yahoo Profile, your profile link will be

http://profiles.yahoo.com/<your Yahoo ID>

For example, mine is http://profiles.yahoo.com/joelmunn

4. So what is at the 1Team1Dream Yahoo Group web site?     Back to the Top

There are many functions provided by Yahoo Groups that were not available with the ListBot that we used in the past. Please take full advantage of these functions.

Delivery Options
- Individual e-mails: each message is sent to your e-mail address
- Daily Digest: all messages for the day are sent in one e-mail message
- No Mail/Web Only: Read the archives directly from within the 1Team1Dream web site. You can reply there.
*AOL 6 users should use this option as you have no PLAIN TEXT capability.

Messages
- This is a live archive of all the messages sent to the group from it's beginning. You can read and reply to the message right there.
- Read and reply to messages sent to the group.
- Post messages via the web site. Note: This method of posting ensures your messages are sent in PLAIN TEXT.

Polls
- Set up and take polls about various subjects.
- Good for rating the opinions or feelings of other distributors.

Files
- Store often requested files to share with others, IE testimonials.

Database
- Used to store information, IE Contact database

Bookmarks
- Put web addresses here for important web sites related to the business.
- Put your own UnFranchise.com address in the <Distributor> folder.
- Put the address of the web sites you've sold through your webcenter into the <Sold> folder.

Chat
- A chat room where distributors can chat live with other distributors.
- There is a scheduled group chat every Sunday at 10PM EST?

Calendar
- Use the calendar to put your non-NMTSS event info, IE home kickoffs, product parties, birthdays, etc. NMTSS event listings are only allowed at www.unfranchise.com.

5. Send Plain Text E-mail Messages Only    Back to the Top

Many people use e-mail clients that do not support file attachments or MIME encrusted (er, encoded) messages. If you send your message as an attachment, or MIME encrusted with non-ASCII characters, these people will not be able to read what you sent.

Cute backgrounds, fancy type font, and other e-mail embellishments are not appropriate for 1Team1Dream. Please recognize that some people have old machines and that they may not enjoy low-cost internet service. People with slow modems, slow computers, or marginal ISPs suffer unduly when these frills are applied. Maybe it won't matter in a few more years, when everyone is running XWindows2010 on HAL9000...

Sending unsolicited file attachments is a serious breach of netiquette. If you send an attachment, be sure to include something in your message that indicates what it is.

Regular use of virus-checking software is highly recommended.

6. Negativity    Back to the Top

The main purpose of this group is to inform, share and motivate... in a positive way. Do not undermine the mission of this group and the faith of new distributors by complaining. The best way to turn a negative situation around is to ask for a solution, AFTER you've looked in the Career Manual, contacted your sponsor, contacted your Upline Executive Coordinator, etc. Don't ask people to jump on your bandwagon (asking if they are having the same problem). THINK!: If you tell the group that you have a problem, you've just told about 800 people (as of this writing) of which probably 798 don't care to hear about it. Every time someone complains, they take a notch out of 800 peoples attitude.

If you must complain, go kick your own cat... not mine! :-)

7. Medical Advice    Back to the Top

If you are not a licensed medical doctor, then you may not make diagnosis or recommend products in this group. Even if you are a doctor, I doubt you can make a proper diagnosis of a person via this forum. So, to keep everyone, this group and the company safe, please do not make any diagnosis or recommendations. You may state your own life experience with an ailment, but do NOT make any claims that a product "cured" or "reversed" your ailment.

8. Use of Testimonials    Back to the Top

This is a touchy subject. While we all want to share testimonials with the world, we have to stay within the confines of Corp policy. While we may share testimonials amongst ourselves, we may NOT share non-Company approved testimonials with prospective customers. We currently do not have control over how you use testimonials. For the protection of the group, if it is found out that you forwarded non-Company approved testimonials to non-distributors, then we must remove you from the group.

Eventually we would like to have a folder full of Corp approved testimonials for all to share. We haven't started work on it yet, but would like to soon. If anyone is familiar with the testimonial approval process, please inform the rest of us.

9. How Do I Send An Attached File To The List?    Back to the Top

Sending attachments to the group has been disabled 1) due to misuse and 2) to further protect against viri.

You can still send e-mails with attachments to individuals.

While this mechanism still may not protect against viri, as least if a file is infected it can easily be dealt with and it also won't spread to the entire group.

To provide a file to the entire group
- log into the 1Team1Dream web site
- Click on Files on the left menu
- Click on Upload File (if an appropriate folder exists, please use that folder, IE testimonials go in the Testimonials folder)
- Select the file on your hard drive to upload
- Enter a description of the file
- You may check the box that notifies the group of the file you're uploading. This saves you from having to send an e-mail to the group announcing your file.

*A word about files: We are limited to 20MB of storage space for file. Please use standard file formats, IE txt, doc, xls, html. Try to keep file size small, IE text files are smaller than Word documents.

DO NOT provide any file using Dr. Wilmer's (or any other MA doctor's) name if it is not an Approved Market America document.

10. How Do I Send A Message To The List?    Back to the Top

Go to http://groups.yahoo.com/group/1Team1Dream & read the directions.

Mail sent to 1Team1Dream@yahoogroups.com is relayed to everyone in the group.

Please keep in mind that 1Team1Dream is a *closed* list. That is, only people who are already members of the list may post to the list.

Keeping the list closed cuts down on spam and annoyance posts, but it also means that YOU MUST POST TO THE LIST FROM THE ADDRESS YOU USED TO SUBSCRIBE.

If you try to post to the list from any other address your post will "bounce", IE come back to you as undeliverable.

11. Conduct Yourself in a Professional Manner    Back to the Top

Be kind, calm, and courteous in your postings. Before you post something, ask yourself if you would say what you're about to post if you were talking to a person face to face. Remember that others cannot see you smile when you post to the list, and what would sound very mild may come through very harshly in black-and-white text.

Make no personal attacks, and keep disagreements on a professional level.

This list operates under a NO TOLERANCE rule for any type of flaming.

12. Stay On Topic    Back to the Top

1Team1Dream is for discussing Market America related issues only. If you want to discuss other pay plans, general issues of network marketing, and news about our competition, there are many appropriate forums on the Internet such as the USENET groups.

ONLY Market America-related topics are allowed (including motivational material as discussed in Section 1, above). Absolutely NO PROMOTION of ANY business plan other than Market America is allowed, no matter what kind of compensation plan is involved and no matter what kind of product or service is offered.

On this list ALWAYS use your real name. Aliases are not allowed. (Note to Bob, Sue, and Tom: nicknames are OK.) Also it is requested that you put your full name, your city, and your state at the end of your message so that we know where you are from. (This can be done automatically using the signature feature in your e-mail program.)

13. How to Post    Back to the Top

When you are subscribed you will receive all messages that are posted to the list (unless you are in No Mail/Web Only mode).

To post a message from your e-mail client (program), simply send it to

1Team1Dream@yahoogroups.com

Please do not cc: the list. List servers (the computers that run this list) sometimes get the hiccups if a message is to an individual and you cc: 1Team1Dream. Simply put 1Team1Dream on the "to" line.

Also please do not cc: the list owner on the messages you are putting on the list. I already get one copy (as a member of 1Team1Dream) and I don't need two. Other members of the list probably feel the same way. Since it's a closed list, don't copy non-members, either -- we don't want them to have the address to 1Team1Dream or to any of our members. So, if you send to 1Team1Dream, don't copy *anybody*.

If you want to send the same message to a non-member, use the cut-and-paste feature of your mail software and send them a separate message.

You may also log into the 1Team1Dream Yahoo Groups web site and post messages there through the web site. This is highly recommended for AOL 6 users, as they do not have a Plain Text e-mail capability.

14. Remember That No One Can See You Grin in E-Mail    Back to the Top

Always remember that on e-mail no one can hear your tone of voice or see your facial expressions. YOU may know that you posted something in jest, but unless you give your readers a clue to that fact (such as a "smiley" or other emoticon), you'll likely be taken more seriously than you want.

Please do not send your messages in all caps. On the Internet this is considered rude and is akin to shouting in someone's face. Use caps to emphasize only certain important words in a message. Enclosing text in a pair of asterisks is *usually* a better way to add emphasis.

15. When Replying To a Post, Always Quote A Portion of That Post...    Back to the Top

When you reply to a message, always quote a bit of the message so others will know what you're responding to. You may be replying to a message that is so old that no one is sure what you're talking about (this can happen within minutes when there is a lot of traffic). Without quoting, your reply will be meaningless at best.

16. But Don't Quote Too Much!    Back to the Top

It's never a good idea to quote the entire message to which you are responding. When you quote a message, try to QUOTE AS LITTLE OF THE MESSAGE AS POSSIBLE. You need to only quote just enough so that people will know what point you're responding to.

When replying to someone else's post to the list. Hit your "Reply" button. MAKE SURE that 1Team1Dream (Make sure it is not listed twice) is in the "To:" field. (This reply will be sent to all list members.) Delete any other addressees. (Remember nobody on the list needs two copies of the same message, and nobody outside the list should see our distribution.)

If you want to reply only to the originator, you may have to copy & paste the originator's e-mail address. Don't embarrass yourself by sending a personal reply to the entire group!

Be sure to remove previous headers and all tag lines before sending your replies. The list server will automatically add another one when your response is posted.

17. Never Send a "Me, too", "I agree", "Thank you" Type Posts to The List    Back to the Top

Reply to the list only if you have something to add to the discussion *other* than "I agree." If you feel the need to tell the author of a post that you agree with him or her, please send that message via private e-mail.

18. Get Permission Before Posting an Advertisement    Back to the Top

Unsolicited advertising posts are the bane of the Internet. This is one reason that 1Team1Dream is a closed list. If you (or a third party) have a product or service, that is not from Market America that you believe the members of the list would be interested in, send your ad to a list moderator or the owner first for approval.

If your proposed advertisement is approved, you'll receive e-mail from the moderator granting permission for you to post your ad to the list. Posting an ad without permission is a very serious breach of the rules.

The subject of your message MUST start with "[AD]".

*Advertising for the purpose of selling Market America items to the group is strictly prohibited as it falls under the Market America anti-cross selling policies.

19. Selling    Back to the Top

For the protection of the integrity of the egroup and the MPCP, please observe the following guidelines:

1. Do not make any offer to sell products or business materials. While MA Policies and Procedures provided in the Career Manual may allow such sales, 1T1D may not be used for this purpose. Interested parties will have to communicate privately.

2. Members may offer to purchase products and business materials, but only at the current distributor cost as shown in the Ordering Guide. The parties to the transaction are responsible for ensuring that any policies and procedures governing such sales are followed. Terms (tax, admin fees, shipment, etc.) are to be negotiated by private email, not on the list.

3. Members may offer to purchase discontinued products and business materials with all terms to be negotiated by private email.

4. Members may solicit participation in a group purchase of authorized 3rd party materials.

5. Members may offer to buy OR sell tickets to NMTSS events at face value only.

6. Members may offer or request accommodations at NMTSS events.

7. Members may solicit participation in group travel arrangements to NMTSS events, however, details should be worked out in some other venue: email, voicemail, or another egroup.

20. Chain Letters    Back to the Top

NEVER send a post to the list warning of a virus or soliciting "pass it on" e-mails. The majority of these e-mails are bogus and made up by people attempting to "steal" e-mail addresses for future spams. If a valid virus warning is to be posted, IT MUST be approved by the moderator first.

Cute little messages of good luck or good will that are to be passed on to multiple friends are equally *unwelcome*. If a "cause" like the little girl with cancer (she's been dying of cancer for over 10 years now) or the terrible health effects of dihydrogen oxide tempts you to send a post to the list. DON'T DO IT! Again, IT MUST be approved by the moderator first.

21. Forwarding to/from the List    Back to the Top

Forwarding to the list
If you deem a message important enough to send to the list and it is Market America related, copy the message text and paste it into a new message. Using the forward key creates PROBLEMS: it shares address information and in some cases, creates attachments. Viruses are spread through attachments and we would like to avoid passing them around. If you have any doubt, contact a moderator or the owner FIRST!

Forwarding from the list
Forwarding messages from the list to outside people is highly discouraged. We want to protect the privacy of the list members. While there is no way to control this or monitor it, it has happened that some people felt they needed to forward messages to the Corporate office. This only serves to put a bad light on this list/group, which is at best "tolerated" by the head office. Please contact your upline, a moderator or the list owner, not Corp.

Some members have multiple e-mail accounts (home, work, etc.). Members may forward e-mails to other accounts that they own.

22. Keep Your Signature To Four Lines or Fewer    Back to the Top

Everyone needs to have a signature and it is highly recommended, however long signatures within the 1Team1Dream group are very annoying. Your signature should be NO LONGER THAN 4 LINES, and preferably be kept to 3 lines or fewer. In your signature, please include your full name, city, and state. Feel free to provide more complete contact information.

Virtual business cards (like Microsoft "vcard" files with a ".vcf" extension) that are Internet standards for exchanging personal information are acceptable, but only in response to a specific request for contact information. Please don't include them as a matter of routine. (See the discussion of attachments above.)

23. How to Quit or Suspend your Membership     Back to the Top

To quit entirely (unsubscribe), send a blank e-mail to: 1Team1Dream-unsubscribe@yahoogroups.com

If you are going to be away for a period of time, IE Leadership School, you may want to suspend your membership temporarily. To do this, go to http://groups.yahoo.com/group/1Team1Dream, log in with your Yahoo ID, then click on Edit My Membership. Once there, set your Delivery Mode to "No Mail". Your membership isn't exactly "suspended", you just won't receive individual e-mails until you reset it back to "Individual E-mails" or "Daily Digest".

24. How to Contact the Group Owner     Back to the Top

Send an e-mail to: 1Team1Dream-owner@yahoogroups.com
